With the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2017 announcement of the new Garmin automobile navigators, I suspect that many here will look at the Garmin DriveLuxe 51 LMT as a premium automobile navigator in the current Garmin line up. With that in mind, I suspect that at some point comparisons will be made to the now slightly dated Garmin Nuvi 3597LMTHD. I, like many here, have a Garmin Nuvi 3597LMTHD.
After going through the various differences, I am not necessarily overwhelmed by the new features of the Garmin DriveLuxe 51 LMT-S. The built-in wifi for updates is nice and over due, but it won't make me rush out to buy one of these.
The Bluetooth functionality will now also allow text messaging. I was somewhat surprised that the 3597 doesn't have that. Perhaps a firmware update will add that at some point.

With regards to additional driver alerts, I suppose that I would have to be able to make am informed opinion, but my past experience with other similar alerts is that they are a bit too much and I would have a tendency to simply disregard them.

At the end of the day, the the Garmin DriveLuxe 51 LMT-S and the Garmin Nuvi 3597LMTHD are actually pretty similar to one another. The price differences aside, I suspect that a lot of the additional features can be disabled, if desired.
